"A picture is worth a thousand words" So said Fred Barnard in the advertising trade journal Printer's Ink. In 1921 Fred wrote an article entitled, "One look is worth a thousand words" and then attributed the phrase to a Japanese philosopher so that people take it seriously. In fact he didn't need to give the phrase extra credibility, because we all know it's true. Fred might not have seen the Internet coming, but he would have appreciated the importance of the right image as a way of conveying the right message. If you want to express yourself clearly in real or virtual media, you may find that the online photo libraries, and image banks don't quite have what you want. |
